Microsoft is reportedly extremely close to compiling the fully-fledged Beta development milestone of Windows 8. WinUnleaked not only leaked new screenshots from a fresh pre-Beta milestone, but also revealed that the moment when Windows 8 Beta will be compiled is just around the corner.

This would put Windows 8 Beta in Escrow, but there’s no way of really confirming the evolution of the platform from other sources, and certainly not from Microsoft. According to Wzor, a source which has been right on a number of previous leaks in the past, Windows 8 Beta will be singed-off by the end of December 2011.

Microsoft recently announced that it would make Windows 8 Beta Build available to the public for testing by the end of February 2012. This of course means that the Beta would need to be compiled ahead of the public launch date, and that there’s a chance that some testers will be getting the bits ahead of end users.

Even if only a Developer Preview Build, Windows 8 was downloaded in excess of 3 million times in the past three months, a figure which definitely shows a great deal of interest in the platform.

Microsoft promised that Windows 8 Beta would launch in late February 2012, and not in early January at CES 2012, as previously believed.
