Microsoft Server Application Virtualization v1 is a new product heading for the the Microsoft Desktop Optimization Pack (MDOP) and possibly for the Microsoft Application Virtualization for Terminal Services. Not that many details available, but version 1 of Server Application Virtualization is designed to be the Application Virtualization for the datacenter.

Server Application Virtualization v1 will be built by the Microsoft Application Virtualization (App-V) team, perhaps an evolution of SoftGrid, just as App-V.

The Microsoft Application Virtualization (App-V) [is building a] a new v1 product to bring the revolutionary Application Virtualization technology to a new market – the datacenter. Server Application Virtualization will effectively let any application be repackaged as an xcopyable application, making deployment vastly simpler and more reliable,” details extracted from a job posting for the position of Program Manager since  01/08/2009.
